Words

My work is conceived in darkness. Shapes form as gestation begins, hidden from the outside world.  In its early stages, growth is gradual.  Seemingly unrelated pieces come together to form the whole.  The work is cut, dissected and removed as a restless need to assemble the familiar takes over.  Emerging from gestation, a Frankenstein-like fusion of animal and human is born into a stark, light filled expanse.

I revel in the maternal, the elemental beginning of life.  I document my interpretation of the path walked by women and life before me.
